President's Message: Welcome to the 2017-18 Year!

Our upcoming year’s theme "Records Management: Not a Job - a Profession" continues to build on previous themes by focusing on the professionalism of Records Management / Information Governance. Following the acquisition framework as a guide, we will examine various aspects of RIM/IG that make it more than a job — and instead, a profession. The new Board is already hard at work, meeting over the Summer to start planning out the year. We have already planned September, October and even our December Event and are actively working on scheduling speakers and programs for the remainder of the 2017-2018 year.  Stay tuned to our website to learn more! A few initiatives already being planned include:

  • SAVE THE DATE! Monday, Dec 11 2017: Tour of the O Street Mansion followed by a reception for our December Meeting. Designed in 1892,the O Street Mansion is actually 5 connected row houses with dozens of hidden passageways that has served as a rooming house for the FBI (J. Edgar Hoover’s era), residence of Rosa Parks, and the 1960 Protest HQ.

  • Continuing to support Training Futures and AIEF, and maybe adding a shred day event or provide mentoring opportunities for our members.

  • Annual Seminar—Once again partnering with Metropolitan Maryland (and Greater DC) Chapters for the Spring 2018 seminar

  • Setting up 1-2 Networking events focused on honing skills and leveraging benefits for our members.

Here’s to another great year!
