Strategies to Get It Done: Defensible Disposition

For years, organizations have struggled to manage electronic information.  Those struggles are not new, nor are they unique to any particular industry.  Corporations have spent tens of millions of dollars on archives, records and document management systems to support management of specific types of records and information.  But, what about everything else?  How do you begin to identify what you do or don’t need?  More importantly, when you find something you don’t need, how do you actually get someone to agree to dispose of it?

During this session, we will explore various strategies to understand your information, using technology and defined processes. This will help you to identify –

  • what you do need and what you don’t,
  • how to use that information to make informed decisions about retention and disposition, and
  • how to engage your leaders to support and champion efforts related to enhanced information governance.

Speaker: Jennifer Joyce

Jennifer Joyce is a Senior Manager in EY’s Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services practice. Jennifer works in the Washington, D.C. office and specializes in Forensic Technology and Discovery Services.

She has ten years of experience advising corporate teams on the cross-functional development and implementation of Information Governance programs. Jennifer works with legal, compliance, and IT professionals to identify, operationalize and execute various Information Governance initiatives related to legal discovery, compliance and business processes.  

Jennifer also leads the development and implementation of project management offices, and is responsible for coordinating the portfolio of Information Governance and eDiscovery engagements for her clients.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Jennifer spent three years specializing in litigation support services, with a primary focus on project and client account management. Jennifer supervised and managed large discovery projects for clients, and trained review teams in the effective use of litigation technology.
